SPANISH MISSION
Under the auspices of First Baptist Church of Kress a Mexican Mission was established in March, 1963. A disbanded church at Lakeview, near Petersburg, was offered as a building.
The building was moved and repaired at a cost of some $7,000. The Association donated $600 for use toward this payment.

Jimmy Sanchez was ordained to the ministry

May 15, 1964, and served as first pastor of the Mission. Other pastors who have served in this capacity have been Revs. Glen Smith, David Rarti, Eliseo Gomez, Joe Rojas, George Rodriquez, Ralph Molina, and Lynn Godsey, the present pastor.

CHURCH OF CHRIST
The Church of Christ first appeared in the Kress Community in 1915 or 1916, when five members began meeting from house to house. The home of Robert Hemphill was chosen as the place for the first assemblies.

In the spring of 1917 after an increase in membership, a lot was purchased and a large one room frame building was constructed which served as a meeting house until January 1950.
