by Bishop Lawrence DeFalco. The parish has grown from the original twenty five families to nearly two hundred families. On October 9, 1977, Joe Frausto was ordained a Deacon for the Diocese of Amarillo.

Now there are two Masses said each Sunday, one in Spanish and one in English.

CENTRAL CHURCH OF CHRIST - TULIA
The Central Church of Christ began meeting in the District Court room in 1926 with sixteen members. In November 1928, this congregation purchased a building located at 2nd and Donley and began meeting there. By 1943 the membership had grown to the extent that a larger building was needed. This led to the beginning of a "building fund." Soon lots were purchased at 3rd and Donley. In early 1947 money was raised, and the building was completed April 1, 1948. The structure was 50' by 80', with an auditorium, seating approximately 350, and eight classrooms.

In 1955 the church again had outgrown the meeting place. In a short time enough money was raised to finance an addition. Construction began, extending the auditorium, which gave a seating capacity of approximately 600. Also, an educational wing was erected, consisting of 20 classrooms, offices and library space.

As the membership grew, parking became a problem. The small lot by the building, and the small one across the street became inadequate. To alleviate this situation, the congregation purchased the half block at 301 N. Donley. Shortly after this was purchased, it was 'black topped' and marked for parking.

Since its beginning the church at this place has increased from a mere handful to over four hundred members. As the membership has grown, the contributions have increased, enabling the church to take on greater obligations year after year. For more than twenty years this
