Mrs. C. W. (Royce) Vernon has served the church as organist since 1947. Most of the music directors have been students from Wayland or W.T.S.U. The youth choirs, under the direction of Steve Vernon, a Baylor student, made tours and presented musical programs to other churches during the summers of 1971 and 1972. The congregation purchased a used school bus fir these tours, and it was later used for the Bus Ministry under the direction of C.W. Vernon.

The First Baptist Church has a great heritage from those who came early and labored so hard and well. The present members have taken the torch so that future generations can inherit a rich spiritual foundation.
