CHURCH OF CHRIST
The Church of Christ began meeting in Happy in 1915, in the Baptist Church building on Sunday afternoons until 1921. In 1921 the first one room building was erected on the corner of NW 4th and Floyd Avenue. The construction and financing was done by members and it was debt free at completion. The first revival meeting was held in April, 1921, by J. O. Garrett from Stephenville, Texas. Some of the members at that time were the Ashburns, Frank Harveys, Albert Harveys, W. L. La Roes, G. W. Coxes, Will Skaggs, Jeff McElroys, Dr. and Mrs. Frank McElroy, Dick Allen, and Mrs. Maud Long.

In the early days the congregation met only once on Sunday. There were two Bible classes followed by worship service. The adults gathered on one side of the building, the children on the other. Adult teacher was G. W. Cox or Jeff McElroy, children's teacher Mrs. Bill Fonken (Tina). There were no elders, but George Cox and Jeff

McElroy kept the church active. Cecil Wesley was song leader until 1933, when Bryant Merriman shared this responsibility.

For communion, the bread was baked by one of the women members, and the wine passed in a cup to each member. There was not a full time preacher in the early days, but Alvie Johnson from Tulia came often and preached.
