We drove 2 or 3 miles and gave up for lunch. We had packed one with us. We were about give out anyway. Didn't get along very fast. Jim Cleveland came along and said we were the smartest bunch about because nobody else brought food.

Soon everybody gave up. You couldn't drive them rabbits. You know how many I saw come into Dimmitt? Three. I think they had a stroke. They were so weak they couldn't run back.

Greatest joke ever. Ten thousand people learned a lesson that day they never forgot.
